भारत में दो सदनों का कार्यकाल की अवधि निम्नलिखित है:
लोकसभा:
- लोकसभा का कार्यकाल 5 वर्ष होता है।
- प्रत्येक 5 वर्षों पर लोकसभा के चुनाव होते हैं।
- यह सदन उप-सदन राज्यसभा के प्रत्येक सदन के कार्यकाल की अवधि के बाद नयी अवधि में बनता है।
राज्यसभा:
- राज्यसभा का सदस्यों का कार्यकाल 6 वर्ष होता है।
- राज्यसभा के सदस्य चरणबद्ध तरीके से चुने जाते हैं और प्रत्येक दो साल में तीनवां हिस्सा सदस्यों की रिटायरमेंट होती है, इससे सदन का सदस्य नियमित अंदाज़ में बना रहता है।
